THE BRIDGE
Shall I cross the bridge?
Is life sweeter over there?
Will I find freedom?
Will I be safe, feel secure?
Will I be released from fear?
Shall I cross the bridge?
Will my terrors follow me?
Will angels greet me?
Will all the hues of summer
soothe my brow and wipe my tears?
Shall I cross the bridge?
Where music whispers softly,
And ripe fruit juices
kiss my lips like nature's wine
and lull the senses warmly!
Shall I cross the bridge?
Will my loved ones welcome me?
Will the gulfs be closed?
Will flowers bloom in winter,
blackbirds greet another spring?
Shall I cross the bridge?
Will I find the answers there
to all the questions
we have asked and puzzles we must solve?
Oh yes, I'll cross the bridge.
The closer I get,
the nearer seems my daydream.
Impossible odds?
