Cottages by the Canal

I painted this pen and wash from a photograph I took as we chugged along the Grand Union Canal one cold and damp day in October 2007. I often try to paint with a light and airey flourish, and usually fail. Though this was a bit of a hasty sketch, it is the first time I've really succeeded in trying to get the paleness of colours that I've been aiming for.
